Tasting Notes - Apple Pie / Ceylon Cinnamon / Sweet Grapefruit / Vanilla

This fantastically clean Pink Bourbon was grown by young San Agustin coffee farmer Robert Montanchez. Robert started growing coffee fifteen years ago at the age of 16. He is a member of Monkaaba, a progressive project headed by renowned producer Esnaider Ortega-Gomez that aims to lift up smallholder coffee farmers in the Huila region of Colombia. This Pink Bourbon lot is a perfect example of what I call a "No-BS washed coffee." In the cup, bright, punchy citrus and refined spices with a vanilla sweetness showcase the exciting character of the varietal, the terroir and Robert's exemplary growing and processing techniques.

* Please let all coffees rest for a minimum of five days after the roast date before brewing. Two to three weeks after roast is much better. Most coffees will begin to fade after three months but this happens slowly if the coffee is properly stored (away from heat, oxygen and direct sunlight) and even 6+ months after roast most lightly roasted coffees will taste great. 

** This coffee was used in a beer collaboration brewed by Superflux Brewing. If you're reading this around March-April 2023 you can probably get that beer still and try it out.
