Washed Gesha
Tasting Notes - Stewed Strawberry / Watermelon Candy / Agave
This fantastic lot represents Marleny Imbachi's first harvest of Gesha trees that were planted four years ago. A respected veteran coffee producer in San Agustin, Marleny is a founding member of the Monkaaba group, a progressive grassroots organization lifting up smallholder coffee farmers in the region.
In the cup I'm finding flavours normally reserved for natural processed coffees, albeit showing up here in a more subtle and refined manner. Try it with a coarse grind, 88-94C water and 4-5 pours for a transparent and juicy cup.
Suitable for filter brews or a bright espresso for those with the means to pull shots of filter roasts.
* Please let all coffees rest for a minimum of five days after the roast date before brewing. Two to three weeks after roast is much better. Most coffees will begin to fade after three months but this happens slowly if the coffee is properly stored (away from heat, oxygen and direct sunlight) and even 6+ months after roast most lightly roasted coffees will taste great.
